How do I start?
We have a large amount of great info for parents in our Parents’ Section on our website.
Chances are if you leave a sweet treat on your kitchen counter, it will attract a Knome overnight. You will likely find evidence that the Knome has visited including half eaten treats, Kabooter footprints, and maybe even a short note from a Knome introducing him or herself to your family.
How do I get started with Kabooter Knomes?
It’s super easy to get started and sprinkle Kabooter magic in your home! Here are some simple ideas:
1. Read the Kabooter Knomes Field guide to learn all about Knomes and the Land of Kabooter.
2. Leave a sweet treat to attract a knome overnight in your kitchen. You will likely find evidence that the knome has visited including half eaten treats, Knome footprints (that look an awful lot like a Q-tip pattern from strawberry jam, but we are pretty sure it’s totally legit and just a coincidence), and maybe even a short note from a Knome introducing him or herself to your family.
3. Pay attention by watching and listening for clues of Knomes. It’s likely that you will see evidence of them throughout your home and hear them close by.
4. Share your Knome stories with other families.
5. Ask Jerry the Fairy for ideas!
Did you really do this with your kids?
Heck yes! For years. They absolutely loved it. It didn’t matter where we were, or what we were doing, there was always an opportunity to incorporate some Knome fun.
Does this take a lot of time and effort?
Knome play is particularly wonderful when life is busy such as during car rides, at the grocery store, waiting in lines, social gatherings and at the dentist. Knomes are great at amusing kids during these busy times and are also adept at helping kids have fun with new friends, babysitters, relatives and caregivers. Watching and listening carefully for signs of Knomes is a sure way to bring curiosity and fun to any occasion.
Why don’t Knomes move when humans are around?
Knomes are not only very fast and shy, but they love to play the freeze game — it’s some genetic thing that even we as scientists can’t explain. As a result, humans rarely see Knomes move but it’s not unusual to hear them and to find evidence of them everywhere.
